Kids Like Me
Words and music by Phil Baker

Kids like me
’cause I always wear a smile
I say how do you do
And I chat for a while
I sing to myself
As I’m walking down the street
Do a little dance
Then I climb up in a tree

And I talk to the squirrels
And the birds and the bees
I always wipe my feet
And I try to say please
I walk with my mom
On Sunday afternoons
She sings to me every night
Underneath the moon

And I dream all night
Of what I wanna be
When I grow up
I think I’ll sail across the sea
And chase a giant butterfly
All the way to Peru
Imagine all the wonderful things
That I can do
I know someday
I’ll be grown up, too

If I close my eyes
And think real hard
And try to solve my problems
While raking the yard
My dog comes along
And offers some advice
He says, “Take it easy”
Enjoy your life

So I pour a glass of lemonade
And sit right down
And get my favorite book to read
Of Bobo the Clown
It ain’t so bad being a kid after all
If you think you wanna try it
Just give me a call
I know someday
I’ll be grown up, too

But for now . . .

Kids like me
’cause I always wear a smile
I got shiny teeth
Like a crocodile
I like to laugh
And I like to sing
And I like to be with you
Life is so much better
When I’m with you
I know someday
I’ll be grown up, too
